John and Arthur Beare, incorporating Morris & Smith, and now widely known as Beare's has a long and distinguished history in violin dealing and expertise dating back to 1892.

Today, players and collectors recognise Beare's for providing unrivalled expertise and service as well as the very finest instruments for sale.

Beare’s has enjoyed close links with an international clientele of leading musicians and collectors throughout its long history. The cellists Jacqueline du Pré, Pierre Fournier, Yo Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Lynn Harrel, Heinrich Schiff, Ralph Kirshbaum, Steven Isserlis, and the violinists Joshua Bell, Pinchas Zukerman, Nigel Kennedy, Vanessa Mae, Mischa Elman, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein, Isaac Stern are just some of the many valued clients of the firm.

In 1998 J & A Beare joined with London's leading emerging dealers, Morris & Smith, and the directors of the business are drawn from both firms - Simon Morris, Frances Gillham, Steven Smith, Peter Beare and Chairman, Charles Beare.

The firm is represented in the Far East with an office in Seoul.
