This beautiful Guarneri del Gesù made in 1735 was owned by a number of distinguished virtuosi, including the eponymous Kathleen Parlow. She was one of the first internationally renowned female soloists. At the age of sixteen she went to study with Leopold Auer and two years later she acquired her del Gesù. She always referred to it as the Viotti, who was reputed to have been an earlier owner. The noted French violinist Pierre Baillot was another famous owner. He sold it to a pupil and friend Count Pillet-Will in the 1830s.

Some of del Gesù's most attractive violins date from this year. In their important book on the Guarneri family, the Hill's refer to the period of 1730-1735 as "the master's golden period...it is now that we sense the full charm of his conception, enhanced by the use of a lustrous varnish of soft texture combined with a colour of orange, orange-red which at times out-rivals all that has gone before." This handsome instrument was sold by Beare's to an eminent musician.
