J & A Beare Europe GmbH was established in 2019 to accommodate the growing demand for our services in continental Europe. The firm is headed by European Director, Josef Kröner.
At J & A Beare Europe we offer a selection of fine instruments and bows for sale, carefully selected with the high standards of care traditionally employed at J & A Beare. We can help you find the best instrument or bow to suit your specific requirements. All purchases come with a prestigious Certificate of Authenticity issued by J & A Beare of London.
We also acquire and consign fine antique violins, violas, cellos and bows. As well as our network of clients and buyers in Germany and across Europe, we can access the more extensive clientele built by J & A Beare of London over more than 125 years of violin dealing history. If you have an item that you would like to sell, we would be very interested to hear from you.
In addition, we provide appraisal, valuation and certification services in collaboration with J & A Beare of London. Our European Director, Josef Kröner, will be more than happy to assist you with any queries.
J & A Beare Europe is conveniently located between Hamburg, Hanover and Bremen in Germany.
Josef grew up in Munich and developed an interest in stringed instruments at an early age, with the intention of becoming a violinmaker. He subsequently studied Violin at the Munich Musikhochschule with Otto Büchner and, at the age of 23, joined the Munich Radio Orchestra as first violinist, remaining in the position for over 25 years.
He also founded the KlangVerwaltung Orchester and to this day, serves as the Managing Director for the prestigious International Herrenchiemsee Festspiele.
Josef has been involved with J & A Beare since 2000, handling numerous important sales and assisting with the creation of the Beare’s International Violin Society. After 20 years of collaboration, Josef has now joined J & A Beare Europe GmbH as European Director, together with Co-Directors Simon Morris and Steven Smith.
