An unmissable moment: a one-off chance to hear one of the greatest Octets of all time played by eight of the world’s most celebrated artists.
Expertly entwining intricate counterpoint with some of his most dramatic writing, Enescu likened his masterpiece to “an engineer launching his first suspension bridge over a river” – a careful balance of lyricism and ferocity, darkness and light.
To open, Ning Feng, Alexander Sitkovetsky and Amihai Grosz bring to life Dvořák’s spirited Terzetto, full of Bohemian character, before the Quatuor Ebène take to the stage with pianist Sunwook Kim for César Franck’s impassioned Piano Quintet.
